TV/Movie Marathons? No thanks.

Almost every person I know has once in a great while had an itch to watch all their favorite ______s, whether that is the classic Star Wars films, their favorite seasons of Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, or Star Trek, you name it. Together with a group of like-minded friends, these folks sit down for several hours on a lazy Saturday and just enjoy the hell out of whatever media they’re watching.

I’ve never done this. And I never will.

However, once every year or so, I get an unquenchable urge to play Final Fantasy 7. I’ve beaten this game over a dozen times, and I know exactly how it ends. But the fun lies in the journey, not in the ending. And for some reason, despite knowing exactly how the game is going to go, the thirst for playing it all over again doesn’t fade for quite a while.

Lately I’ve been listening to the game’s soundtrack (all 4 CDs) on repeat in hopes that it will work ease my nostalgia and work against this urge, but after a week, no luck.

So, it seems that my fate is practically set in stone: a month or so after my big top-secret app is released, I’ll probably have to take a week off just to play this game again.

Too bad you can’t have actual FF7 marathons with people, to sit down and just play the game side-by-side and just enjoy it. But people don’t do that. They watch movie and TV show marathons instead.
